Lip discoloration after getting fillers done, should I be worried? (photo)

About out a week and a half ago I got Juvaderm Volbella . The first time I got it (year ago) my lips turned darker around 2 weeks later but I was on a antibiotic that had that side effect for people with dark skin so we ruled out the fillers. However this time the same thing happened. There is no pain just bad discoloration that looks brownish/purple maybe? I was on vacation recently but used sunblock on my lips. Will this go away? It looks terrible. p.s. my lips bf were normal pink, no brown.

Bruising after lip injections is common, but typically resolves after two weeks.  If you are still noticing the discoloration and it happened before it may be something to do with how the pigmentation in your skin appears with the extra volume from the filler.  If the darkness improved before as the filler dissolved, then it would likely resolve as it did before.

Thanks for your question. Without seeing how your lips looked before, it is a little more challenging to answer your question.  I suspect that some of this is normal or natural pigment that has become accentuated after additional volume was added to your lip with filler. It is possible some of this is bruising, but were that the case it shouldn't last more than a couple of weeks. I suggest consulting with your physician injector first to see what they have to say.  Best of luck to you!
