The hard answer to your question is "Yes", they can be done together…BUT, I would not recommend it! A body lift (if done with care) should take something like 6 hours to perform. Also, the arm lift operation is probably about 3 hours. So, unless you have a team of surgeons working on different body parts at the same time (or more likely residents or physician assistants doing the work) I think this is a mistake.I know that some of my colleagues like to do "total body lift" procedures and they may even claim that anyone who takes too long to do a procedure doesn't really know what they are doing. My answer to them is that I throw every stitch myself. I do it with great care and scrutiny of my own work. I sometimes remove sutures that I don't like. I NEVER use staples. Because of that, my revision rate is fairly low. From the patients perspective, there is enough recovery to do from one of these procedures, much less both. For instance, how are you going to get up out of bed in the morning if you can't use your arms OR your torso? Too much surgery can be a mistake. Slow and steady will win the race.
Yes you can do an arm lift and body lift at the same time.As you surmised there are pros and cons about doing many surgeries at once vs separately. One surgery, one recovery speaks for doing many surgeries at once. However there are more risks such as blood clots in your veins (DVT or PE), increased risk for infection, etc. Typically, I do a combination of surgeries but limit my operative time to less than 6 hours and often use a surgical assistant for efficiency, BMI within normal range, non smokers, use anticlotting strategies to prevent blood clots. The informed consent with your surgeon should cover in great detail all of the above and more. #bodylift#postweightlosssurgery#brachioplasty
I try to limit all surgery to a time less than 6 hours. I can usually do a body lift in 4 hrs and an arm lift in 2 hrs in an average size person, so you would be right at the limit. Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
Thank you for your question. Yes, it is possible, but it really depends on how lengthy the body lift procedure will be. This may range from a few hours if you just have loose skin, to 8-9 hours if you have to factor in some liposuction or very extensive amounts of skin. Typically, I recommend starting with the body lift and saving the arm lift for another surgery, often combined with a breast or thigh lift procedure in as staged fashion. Check with your board certified plastic surgeon. Best wishes.
Yes, an arm lift or brachioplasty and a 360 circumferential lower bodylift can be performed at the same time. If the procedures are combined, the surgery and anesthesia are longer. Combining the arm lift and the lower body lift does increase your risks during surgery and after surgery.Even though the arm lift and the 360 circumferential lower body lift can be performed, I do not suggest it. The reason for this is that you need your arms to help pull yourself from the bed after the body lift. After the 360 circumferential lower bodylift, you will not be able to use your core muscles nor abdominal muscles. Typically, during the body lift, these muscles are tightened. After the body lift, these muscles will be tight and sore. So to get up and out of bed, you will need to rely on your upper body strength. If you had just had arm reduction surgery or a bracioplasty, this will be very difficult. My final answer is that yes, an arm lift (brachioplasty) and a 360 circumferential lower bodylift can be performed together, however I do not suggest it.
If your health is good, yes, a lower body lift and an arm lift can be done at the same time, but it would best be done by a team of surgeons to decrease your time in the operating room. You should probably spend one evening in a monitored environment and plan to have good help at home for several days after your surgery. Your benefit would be correcting your entire trunk and your arms at the same time but it must be planned so it's done safely for you.
It is possible to combine multiple body contouring procedures. At our clinic, we try to limit surgeries to less than 4 hrs at a time to minimize risk of complications such as blood clots and infections. A full body lift will take between 3-6 hr so depending on how much work you need, your surgeon may decide to add the arms or to delay until a later date
Many patients that need a Lower Body Lift required multiple procedures because of the affectionon other body parts. The number ofprocedures that we can perform will depend of the physical condition of thepatient as well as the evolution of the patient during surgery
Multiple procedures can be done safely, but it depends on your health status (past medical history), your anatomy, and the amount of surgery/type of procedures to be done. On longer cases, an overnight stay may be recommended. Please talk to your plastic surgeon to get their thoughts on the matter as they are most familiar with your medical history and overall health status.
You can have a lower body lift and arm lift in one procedure, though you have to keep in mind your recovery plan. If your health is good the combined procedure can be carried out. Your aftercare and experience may be more challenged, but if you have the help at home it is possible.
Hello, and thank you for your question regarding the bruise above your belly button after sneezing following a lower body lift. Thank you for your history and your picture. Your history suggests that you probably sneezed very hard and disrupted one of the rectus abdominis plication sutures. ...
The surgical site is usually very tender within the first 2 weeks after surgery. I think it is better to wait until tissues are less swollen and tender.
After a 360 circumferential lower body lift, it is essential that you eat approximately 100 grams of protein daily. Typically, the best way to achieve this is with protein drinks or protein shakes. Most proteins drinks have minimal sodium. If you are able to eat on top of this, that's...
