I have silicone implants in my nose. Does it move normally? (photo)

when I touch my nose it moves under my nose skin. My question is does it move normally? Also I'm planning to get revision rhinoplasty using my rib cartilage. Does rib cartilage implant move too? thank you

Any implant has the potential to feel unnatural and move unnaturally. Using your own tissue makes this less likely.

Silicone implant is more likely to move as it does not become incorporated into your own tissues.Rib cartilage will become part of your own tissue and is very less likely to move.RegardsDr. J

Hii would reccomend exchanging your implant for rib cartilage. The graft will solidify in place over time and should not move. Best

Yes...it's common for nasal silicone implant to move as you described. The rib cartilage are more stable and more likely to form stable healing to decrease such movement. That is why they are preferred over silicone implant.best of luck!

Yes, it is not uncommon for nasal implants to move a bit. Rib cartilage implants are more stable and usually secured in place to avoid warping and moving around your nose.

Hello,Thank you for you question and pictures.  In my experience, silicone nasal implants can move, but if they are placed in a tight pocket under the periosteum, there is less movement.  Rib cartilage can move as well, but carefully creating a tight pocket under the periosteum has reduced these issues in my pateints.  Good luck!

Silicone implants do move and rib cartilage may move after surgery.  More likely the rib cartilage will incorporate with the other tissues.

Silicone implants do usually move from side to side. This implant are not as popular in the US, as they are in Asia, and they carry a higher chance of complications, such as infection, and extrusion.Rib cartilage is well incorporated into the nose tissues, feels more natural , and it does not have the mobility  of Silicone nasal implants.

The silicone implants do not integrate into the tissue like the rib cartilage will. Once the rib cartilage is healed into place, It should not move. Best of luck

Normally your internal scar tissue would keep your nasal graft from moving.  The rib graft once healed should not move.
