Hyperbaric oxygen therapy after transconjuctival blepharoplasty with fat repositioning.

Question

I'm considering doing a series of HBOT treatments to help heal a sports related injury. Is there any risk in doing so right after a blepharoplasty or if anything could it be beneficial and promote quicker healing? Thank you.

These treatments will not adversely affect your blepharoplasty.  It may help it heal faster.

This is a topic I would discuss with your Surgeon.  There isn't any true need for HBOT after transconjunctival lower lid blepharoplasty. HBOT is infrequently used in circumstances where there is a serious question about viability of a facelift skin flap.  This may help your healing and may not be must be discussed with your operating Surgeon.

Dear athlean, I find hyperbaric oxygen treatments to be very beneficial to patients before and after surgery. In patients who have had upper eyelid or browlift surgery I do suggest using some moisturizing ointment in the eyes at the time of the treatment. The oxygen that comes from outside of the mask can cause some irritation possibly. Check with your surgeon and ask which OTC eye ointment he/she prefers. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
