A little over a month ago I had a lower Blepharoplasty performed and for the most part I’m very pleased . I’m a 40 year old male and my eyes before the surgery we’re not horrible , but at night or after reading for a while would look tired . So I decided to get the procedure done . My question is , will my bottom eyelids look more nature with time ? I feel like my eyes look a little like a goldfish or a character from the Simpson’s . That’s the best way I can describe it .
Answer: Eyelid Surgery Recovery Depending on what exactly was done, it can take several months to see the final results of eyelid surgery. The majority of the swelling is usually gone at 6 weeks, but the corner of the eyes will soften and the skin will continue to settle out, and this is the part that take several months. It sounds based on your description like you might have some lid retraction, which usually responds to massage and time. Be patient, trust the process, and make sure your follow-up with your surgeon.

Answer: Eyelid Surgery Thank you for your question. Most patients see swelling subside, and a smoother, more alert and beautiful area after the 1 month mark. I suggest that you discuss your recovery expectations with your board certified facial plastic surgeon. Best wishes,

Answer: Recovery after lower lid blepharoplasty In general, healing is virtually complete at 3 months in a routine uncomplicated blepharoplasty. In my hands the eyelid shape does not change at all, and so at 1 month there would be some minimal residual swelling, but no other changes. What you are describing suggests that a more aggressive procedure was done, but I would still be optimistic that your eyelid shape will return to normal in the next couple of months. I would consult with your surgeon.

Answer: The timeline for healing from lower blepharoplasty can vary but usually by three months after surgery things have settled The timeline for healing from lower blepharoplasty can vary but usually by three months after surgery things have settled. It can depend on exactly what type of anatomy you had and what type of blepharoplasty was done. There are many intricacies and different variations of the technique. Of course the scar can take 6 to 12 months to go from being red and hard to a soft white line. The recovery & downtime is very minimal. There are usually no drains, most people can go out the same day, you can shower the next day and most patients take no pain medicine. There are never any guarantees of course with any procedure whether it is surgical or nonsurgical in nature. I would recommend that you see a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area that is a member of both ASPS & ASAPS and performs a lot of eyelid lifts but also offers all the nonsurgical options such as injectables and laser treatments. Go over your concerns with them and make sure above all, you walk out of there with several options and an idea of the pros and cons to each of them as well as realistic expectations.

Answer: Timeline for healing after blepharoplasty It is hard to comment without seeing pre op and post op photos, but in general 3-4 month is a good timeframe for complete healing. Most of the healing is done at one month, but there can still be some residual edema for several more months. Consult with your surgeon and give it a little more time.
