When will I feel "normal" again post muscle repair, Liposuction and Tummy tuck!?!?

Hello, it is not unusual to still feel fairly achy and sore the first week after a tummy tuck.  Usually the worst part is over by this point and you are going to start feeling much better.  Sensation can take months to slowly improve.  It can also be very reassuring to touch bases with your surgeon to ensure that everything is progressing normally.

At this stage of your
recovery, what you are feeling is very common.  Even
though you may not be able to stand straight at first, in time this will
rectify itself. Typically with a tummy tuck it takes at least 2 weeks
before you start moving around with more ease and less discomfort but it varies
from patient to patient. Your body needs time to recover.  Be sure to follow our surgeons post
-operative instructions carefully and should you have any concerns, call or make an appointment to be seen. Be patient. It will
take 4 to 6 weeks for you feel like your old self again.

Thank you for your question. Everything you are feeling are normal post surgery side effects. The abdomen area is very sensitive and it can take a good 3 months for the numbness, swelling and discomfort to go away. Each patient is different and heal at a different rate. You really need time and patience. It is also important to follow the doctor`s post surgery recommendations. Please keep us posted!

Thanks for sharing your frustrations. I know feeling "tight" is very uncomfortable, but you have to consider what you just went through. Everyone heals at different rates, but you should begin to feel better within the next couple of weeks. You are still very early in your recovery so just try and be patient and think about how great you will look once you are fully recovered. Best to you. -Dr. Coan

Every patient goes through highs and lows during recovery and you are very early on in the healing process.  In the coming weeks, you will begin to feel "normal" again.  Numbness may take several months to return but some areas may remain numb permanently. Make sure you are getting enough protein and follow up with your PS.

At one week you are still very early post-op. It might take another week to start to feel normal. But, everyone is different.

Don't give up hope, you will start to feel more normal in the coming weeks.  The tightness should begin to subside over the next one to three weeks.   The numbness make take longer to resolve and can sometimes take up to six months.  Best wishes, Dr Lepore.
