I am 23 and my hair is starting you thin. The bald guys in my family have norwood 6/7. If I get to that point, are hair transplants worth it? What can I expect (how many treatments? Cost? Grafts? Usual thickness of hair?) Is it to early to start thinking transplants? Just looking for information so I can better understand what I'm getting into. Thank-you for your time

Answer: Hair Loss in Young Adults To determine if you're a good candidate for hair transplant surgery you'll want to research a qualified, experienced physician who specializes in hair transplant surgery. Once you do your research, you'll want to schedule a consultation where then the doctor will go over your options for surgery as well as your options for medical management. We usually have our patients on a regimen of either Minoxidil or Propecia. There are several other forms of medical management we recommend as well such as PRP Cell Therapy, LLLT(Capilus), and Nizorall shampoo. Our clinic specializes in FUT and FUE procedures as well as the medical management of hair loss for young patients such as yourself.

Answer: Expectations for hair transplant of norwood class 6 or 7? It's smart to start addressing your hair loss early. There are options to help preserve your hair that were not available a generation ago. You should see a hair transplant surgeon and discuss options such as finasteride (Propecia), laser, minoxidil (Rogaine) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). These can help prolong the life of your hair follicles, improve their function and even reverse early hair loss. When it comes to transplant surgery, with your family history you want to start slowly and be conservative, focusing first on the front/hairline area.
