Can Dysport cause discomfort or affect your eyes?

Question

Hi, I received injections of Dysport in the glabella and around my eyes. 3 days later when the Dysport supposedly started to kick in I started to feel a discomfort on my left eye. I feel like my left eye is more sensitive to light and also like I have a foreign body in it. It is been very hard to work on the computer. I saw an optometrist who said there is nothing wrong with my eye whatsoever. Could it be from the Dysport? Will it go away, I’m on day 9 now.Thank you

This isn't typical with Dysport. If it persists, I recommend following up again with your optometrist. Dysport results resolve in 3-4 months. Best, Dr. Emer

Dysport is used to smooth out lines and wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles directly underneath the skin. When properly injected, there should not be any discomfort around the eyes. Consult a doctor to discuss your condition.

Hello and thank you for the question.  Dysport injections should not cause any eye discomfort.  If symptoms persist, I would follow up with your injector or an ophthalmologist for further investigation.

while dysport or any botulinum treatment to the glabella should't cause any eye problems, treatment of the crows feet can absolutely exacerbate dry eye issues in people who are prone to this. with your sensitivity to light and foreign body sensation this could be the issue in your case. the good news is that it should be short lived and you should be able to treat yourself through it with some artificial tears.
