Generally a fractional CO2 laser is likely to result in more tightening and smoothing of this area when compared to non-ablative lasers such as Fraxel Dual. However, many patients wish to avoid the increased downtime of the CO2 laser, even though the peri ocular area tends to heal quickly. The Fraxel Restore (1550nm) is the preferred wavelength although addition of the 1927nm wavelength (Dual) can enhance results, especially if there is significant pigmentation present. In experienced hands, the Fraxel Dual is safe to use in this area with the proper protective contact lenses. The experienced physician will often confine the upper lid resurfacing to the the area of lax skin and also protect the lashes from singeing. A core physician, plastic, head and neck surgeon or dermatologist are preferred providers.
