Can I get Botox and filler if I’ve had Bells Palsy?

Hello! We routinely use neurotoxins like Botox as well as fillers to improve asymmetry after nerve damage from Bell's palsy or surgery. I have never seen any studies showing a link between needles and recurrence of Bell's. There is a significant amount of literature confirming the beneficial effects of Botox after Bell's, however. Choose an experienced injector as subtle asymmetry can be helped - or made worse- depending on the experience of the person treating you. Good luck!

You are absolutely still able to have Botox and fillers after having Bell's Palsy. Botox is used to help diminish muscle movement, therefore preventing fine lines from forming. Over time, Botox helps to reduce resting lines as well. Asymmetry can be addressed with Botox injections as well!

yes you can. Actually, Botox and dermal fillers help address asymmetry. I don’t know why you can’t use Botox and dermal fillers after Bell’s Palsy.

There is no problem using Botox after having Bell's Palsy. In fact we use Botox and fillers to help with any asymmetries from the Bell's Palsy.See an experienced Dermatologist or  Plastic surgeon for your treatments..

Thanks for your question! Botox/Dysport/Xeomin are not contraindicated in those having had Bells Palsy in the past. Interestingly, we use these medicines to treat tight or strictured muscles in some other neurological conditions so that the patient can have their symmetry back. In the hands of an experienced provider, these medicines can be like magic for people who have suffered with muscular asymmetry!
