Can cheeks which have been lifted too high during a facelift be lowered back down?

Absolutely, it's always great to have scheduled follow-up appointments with your surgeon to discuss your aftercare and your thoughts/concerns about your surgery. Did you consult your surgeon initially regarding your thoughts?Unfortunately, without any pictures I am unable to help you in great detail. However, with regards to any revision surgery, at around 6-8 months+, you're healed well enough for adjustments to be made by your surgeon (if that's what's required). Of course, if you don't feel comfortable with your current surgeon, feel free to consult with a certified plastic surgeon to evaluate the work that needs to be corrected. You need to be happy with the outcome and contacting other surgeons for opinions is the first start.  Good luck!

I wonder if this facelift was done with fat injection? If so, then that is probably the reason why the cheeks are too prominent. In either case, I would say that based on your description it might be difficult to correct the problem right now. I would need to have detailed information about the initial operation and what techniques were used in order to give you a more accurate answer.

The simple answer is yes. That also depends if skin was excised from your lower lid area during the surgery in case your facelift was done in combination with lower eyelid surgery. If excess bulk and prominence over the cheeks is your main concern, then there are other options apart from revision that can be considered too. This however needs to be assessed clinically to evaluate and decide the best approach.

It is unfortunate that you are not satisfied with your results.  Almost all unsatisfactory facelifts can be improved by an experienced facelift specialist; this can include manipulation of fat layer, deeper SMAS layer and/or skin.  Seek out a facelift expert for an in person evaluation.  

It is very difficult to give you any advice/opinion without photos and/or in person evaluation. It would be interested to know whether you cheeks were lifted and what technique was used; it is possible that they were augmented (fat grafts) only? Only on the basis of in person evaluation one could give you appropriate answer and options for correction. Good luck.

It is very difficult to make evalution without photos and/or in person appointment. It might be  whether you cheeks had fat grafts or not and what technique was used for it. A revision facelift can fix all your issues and a liposuction procedure can be performed as well. A deep plane revision facelift can be performed to achive youthful look, and you need find a professional to achieve the best result and not to undergo a revision procedure again.

The patient is concerned that a year following a facelift and her cheeks are still to full and she is wondering if they can be lowered. This concern is fairly common in a person who has excessively full cheeks and a wide face. As the tissues are restored to their youthful position with a facelift there is increased fullness along the malar and pre-auricular area. Almost always I advise against removing fat from face (not the neck) because there's a natural tendency for the face to deflate with age as the normal fat pockets shrink. Although perhaps limited liposuction or facial contouring (RF-FaceTite) can be done generally I advise against it anticipating that the face would change in shape with years and the fullness will dissipate, perhaps even becoming too deflated.
