Recovery from a chemical peel can vary significantly depending on the type and depth of the peel performed. A light chemical peel only effects the superficial layers of the skin called the epidermis and will usually result in only a 3-4 days of downtime. This can give a smoother, refreshed appearance to the skin, improve coloration of the skin, but won't significantly treat any wrinkles in the skin. A deep chemical peel, such as a Phenol peel effects the deeper layers of can take around 10 days to heal, but several months for the redness from the peel to resolve. This type of peel treats more deep wrinkles in the skin and sun damage.
Not all chemical peels are the same. A TCA peel typically has a 7 day recovery process but a lighter Vitamin A peel would not be as bad, but it does not go down as deep.
A chemical peel can be done a week after Hyaluronidase injections. Depending on the peel if there are no marks from the injections it should be safe to proceed. Best, Dr. Green
