I’m 18 and for the last year I’ve noticed gradual thinning of the left temple, I still have my hairline and wondered Whether minoxidil is a good option?

In in my opinion, it would be helpful to get a hair consultation from an expert. You need a history, examination with magnification and possibly blood work. Most likely your hair loss is from androgenic alopecia.Should this be the case, minoxidil is an excellent starting point. Some temple area recession is normal even at the age of 18.  If you have a genetic predisposition for hair loss, minoxidil can be a great starting point.  It may be a good idea for you to meet with a doctor to determine the cause of your hair loss, and if it is androgenic alopecia, minoxidil along with or without prescription for finasteride (Propecia) is an excellent, affordable option for treatment of male pattern hair loss.

If the changes in the hairline are due to androgenetic alopecia, minoxidil is a possible option. Be sure to review benefits and risks with a physician. If the cause of the hairline changes is hairline maturation or another cause, minoxidil may or may not do anything helpful.

Hi there, minoxidil will help to increase the thickening in your temples. I would also consider seeing a hair loss specialist who may counsel you to start finasteride which should stop any further thinning and thicken your temples further.

Minoxidil topically can be used to "target" certain areas.  The amount of result depends on the individual patient however.  It is worth giving it a try, definitely.  Use it for at least 6-12 months because it takes at least that long to see complete results.Good Luck!
