I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Thanks for your question. Post menopausal hair loss can be very complicated. I generally recommend complete blood work and scalp analysis and then prescribe recommendations based on results. Spironolactone can be a part of the treatment puzzle, but you should consult with a doctor experienced in female hair loss to get the right treatment for you.
Spironolactone might be an option. You’ll want to review the drug and side effects with your doctor. Weight gain is not very common with spironolactone but certainly can occur. In fact, any antiandrogen has this potential. Because spironolactone is a diuretic it tends to flush fluid out of the body and cause a reduction in body weight.
Dear Mona5658,Hello and thank you for your excellent question. I suggest that you start Finasteride and Minoxidil, as they are the only two medications for hair loss approved by the FDA. For women of child-bearing age, I use spironolactone instead of finasteride. Both medications have different mechanism of action, and I usually recommend both medications to my patients. Other adjuncts include low-level laser light therapy, PRP, stem cell, or other regenerative medical treatment. Also, you will want to ensure that you are not taking any medications that could be contributing to your hair loss. The main objectives with the combination treatments are to stabilize your hair loss, increase your existing hair fiber diameter, and stimulate some hair regrowth. After those options are completed, I recommend hair transplant, including FUE or FUT. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck! Provided you are getting the generic from a reputable source, there should be no difference in the effectiveness of brand versus generic. The extra .25mg maybe making a difference, however this would be rare.Try obtaining the 5 mg generic and cut it into quarters. You may also try a different...
What you have described should be fine. Ideally minoxidil is left on for 8 hours as the 'minimum' time. This advice comes from a 1990 study. In that study, twenty-two healthy male volunteers completed a four-way, multiple-dose, randomized crossover study to determine the relationship between c...
What you describing could be an adverse effect or a idiosyncratic reaction. Try to change into MInoxidil foam or see your dermatologist!
