I’m 50 years old, 5’5 235 lbs. on Dec 15, 2022, I had a tummy tuck, breast aug with 490cc Mentor silicone implants, fat grafting to face and lips and Lipo to flanks. All the procedures were done on the same day in Charlotte, NC. The tummy tuck was the worst the surgeon did such a poor job that I’ll have to have it done completely over as if it was never done.I have a capsulated implant, the fat didn’t survive in my face. The surgeon doesn’t want to be accountable. I don’t know what to do.
Answer: Tummy Tuck revision hello, I am sorry to hear that your surgeon did not give you a satisfactory result. The first step is always to talk to the office manager and the surgeon and express your concerns. Given that you have already done that (the surgeon), the next step is to get other consults to find out what can be done to improve the result. To get started ask for a copy of the operative report. This will describe exactly what was done. You do not need the entire record--just the op note. This would be helpful to the surgeons you consult with in the future. You will want to make sure that the rectus diastasis muscle was repaired during the tummy tuck procedure. If that was done , you may be able to improve your result with just Liposuction of the flanks and Upper stomach. This will help. However, if you want a lean, firm stomach, it might be necessary to excise more skin. That would not be a full Tummy Tuck, but a shorter procedure of skin removal. It would also be helpful for you to loose some weight. Your result will improve some with that. With the capsular contracture, you may be able to get $ from the manufacturer. If it is your first set of implants, the implant manufacturer may be able to provide some financial assistance, or at least replace the implants . A claim would need to be set up. Any office should be able to do this for you. The manufacturer will not pay for the full amount of the capsular contracture, but it is a help. Hang in there, as this is fortunately all likely solvable. Ricardo L Rodriguez MD Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Baltimore, Maryland

Answer: Surgery You did not ask a question, so I cannot give much advice. Also, your photos do not show your entire abdomen nor show the incisions. I would suggest going back to your surgeon and discuss your concerns, or visiting with another surgeon. I also recommend trying to lose weight for you are 100 pounds over ideal weight for your height and this is not good for your health nor results.

Answer: Revision The best place to begin is to schedule a few consultations with board certified plastic surgeons in your area to discuss your concerns. Prioritize what you want addressed and listen to varying opinions. Based on your stated height and weight you will give your surgeon the best chance to maximize your tummy tuck results if you lose weight prior to revision.

Answer: I’m in need of a tummy tuck revision among other corrections done From the nicely posted photos I assume you have a high BMI or weight?? So the surgeon did only a paddlecectomy of your hanging inferior abdomen. As for scarring/capsule of breasts need virtual or in person consult. I would offer 2 surgery rounds. Revision of full TT with liposuction, open capsular release, re fat grating to face in Ambulatory Surgery Center. Round 2 lipo 360. Fee $15,000. Best to virtual consult with.

Answer: Unhappy with plastic surgery results To make a quality assessment regarding the outcome of a plastic surgery procedure, we need to see a complete set of quality before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures, then ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. Your post does not include any real questions. The only question you ask if you are in need of a correction. Based on the information included, it appears you are in the need of weight loss. Muscle tightening with a tummy tuck, cannot make excess visceral fat and obesity disappear. The bulging of your abdomen isn’t because your surgery wasn’t done well, but rather because you have excess visceral fat. Without weight loss you’re not going to get a flat abdomen. It’s common that much of the grafted fat in the face dissipates overtime and most patience should think a fat transfer is something that needs to be a couple of times to get the correct outcome. Perhaps you were not an ideal candidate for the above stated procedures. Individuals who are overweight, especially those who have excess visceral fat may not be a good candidate for tummy tuck surgery. Perhaps your surgeon should’ve encouraged you to lose weight before the operation or discussed the impact that obesity can have on limiting surgical outcomes. Consider getting a few in person second opinion, consultations with other plastic surgeons in your community. For second opinion, consultations come prepared bringing with you a complete set a before and after pictures and copies of your operative report. These are available from your providers office if you request them. Capsular contractions do happen after breast surgery and I’m not sure anyone has ever shown that these are related to who does the procedure. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
