Tummy tuck revision/dog ears - what should I do? (Photo)

Dog ears normally appear when, as surgeons, we try to shorten the TT scar on a patient who has certain degree of saggy lovehandles.
You are a perfect candidate for dog ear revision/removal. Just 1-1.5 inches extension, local anesthesia, if you have low tolerance to pain, then just a short sedation and local, outpatient procedure.

Abdominoplasty scars can be quite complex, ranging from the simple hypertrophic scar to a multiplane inflamed keloid. Those "dog ears" can be easily removed in the office under local anesthesia. Please ask your surgeon to remove these, or find someone who will. You don't need a "hip flip" or any other large procedure just for dog ears.

The dog ears that concern you can often be addressed in the office surgical suite under local anesthesia. At two years post op you are seeing final results and it is not likely the skin issue would resolve on its own.

The length of the incision for a tummy tuck should be based on the amount of skin laxity on the torso. Individuals who have more extensive skin laxity need a more extensive skin excision. If the excision goes beyond what can be done with the patient laying on their back during surgery we usually refer to this as an extended tummy tuck. It’s not unusual for plastic surgeons to exercise some excess skin of dog years has an in office touchup procedure.
You do have some excess skin and you could also improve your contour with Liposuction and or fat transfer.
To get the best result, would include all three.
If you’re happy with the contour, and just want the excess skin gone, then you need to have a revision removing excess skin, extending your scar further towards your back.
If your provider is not getting you the help you need then I suggest having second opinion consultations with other providers.
For a second opinion consultations it’s a good idea to bring a complete set of before and after pictures and a copy of your operative report. You should be able to get these from your current providers office.
