If you had previous surgery in your stomach before it is not recommended to have the gastric sleeve.
Orbera and other gastric balloons (including Obalon) are contraindicated if you've had any prior stomach surgery, including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, hiatal hernia repair, or lap band placement. The changes made to your stomach from these procedures may increase the risk of a balloon complication, including stomach injury and perforation.
Hello and thank you for your question,After having the sleeve procedure, the size of your stomach is reduced. Because the stomach is smaller, placing a balloon in the smaller space might increase the risk of complete obstruction of your stomach by the balloon. This would not be a good thing. I hope this helps.Take care,
Unfortunately any previous Stomach Surgery is a contraindication to getting the Gastric Balloon.Number one, there is not enough space to fully inflate the Balloon. In addition, studies have shown that chance of complication, like Gastric Perforation, will increase with previous stomach surgery. These include not only history of Gastric Sleeve, but also previous Lap-Band, Gastric Bypass and even anti-reflux procedures like Nissen Fundoplication!
