This review may be long. I'll begin by saying Dr.. Naim and his staff are awesome!! The Best!! My story. I was always a skinny kid, 105-110.. I grew to be a skinny adult. After giving birth at 23, I was a "normal" weight. 5'7" and 130lbs. During my late 20' and early 30's I had severe female issues, wild endometriosis, cysts, tumors, etc resulting in 6 major surgeries, including a hysterectomy, within a 6 yr period. Having these surgeries pretty much back-to-back and with all the bedrest I gained over 100lbs. I wasn't even 40! I spent several years trying to lose the weight, but couldn't. At my highest weight of 265, I heard about the gastric sleeve from a friend who had wonderful results using this tool. I spent a few years researching and watching a sleeve surgery video on YouTube. I asked my PCP about it, but it wasn't approved. Then I was told I needed skin removal. I asked a question here on Real Self and the good doctor, Dr. Naim, answered. Others replied, but his was an actual answer. A few weeks later I called and made an appt. I canceled that first appt only to call back and reschedule. My first meeting with Dr. Naim was Aug. 31, 2020. I was nervous, but he was so kind and professional, that nervousness disappeared! He was through, smart, handsome, kind and patient. He answered my questions before I asked. He was very real and I appreciated that. I was on the way, then Covid happened! OMG! I had to wait for a surgery date. Disappointing as it was I waited, did what I needed to and in late January 2021 I called and Laila, his wonderful appt. setter, said surgeries were being scheduled! Yay! I was scheduled for April 20, 2021. On that morning I waited for what seemed like forever, then I saw the most beautiful vision of that day, Dr. Naim! He was the same, smart, handsome, kind doctor that I wanted to see. We spoke briefly. I was comforted by his words. Then his God given skillful hands gave me the tool needed to rid myself of the weight holding me hostage. He and his surgical team are awesome. I had no fear, just the peace of knowing they and the Lord were with me. Post-op, I was giving the best care. He and his staff were attentive, comforting and all around good people. All post-op appts have been pleasant. Dr. Naim is always informative, kind, through and while they're not long they are always pleasant. It'll be 1 year tomorrow. Starting weight was 265, today my scale says 161. The only con for me is the loose skin, but we'll deal with that too. Lol. I'm forever thankful to Dr. Naim, and his team, for providing me this tool. I'm very satisfied! I highly recommend him to anyone who's interested in WLS. Thank you doctor!!

Dr. Naim performed the Lap Band surgery on me several years ago. To this day...I've kept off 95 lbs and still going strong. I wouldn't have traded that experience for anything. Dr. Naim is very professional with good bedside manner. He cares and listens. I would definitely recommend him for any weight loss surgery you need.... trust me!

This doctor is the best. Last year in March 2019 I had my sleeve done with him and lost 90lb, he did a great job. 2 weeks ago I went back for a brachioplasty and I am so pleased with my result and it was a real easy recovery, he is just the best, I would go any time back to him
Dr Naim and his entire staff are amazing and as a result of lap band surgery I have lost 40 lbs in just 4 months . The results continue to happen and there is more weight to be lost but getting this going was possible due to Dr Naim. He has made the process seamless and any fear was quickly erased. I recommend him to anyone considering weight loss and he will be more than helpful to assist in reaching your goals. Ramona L
I lost 43 pounds with the help of the Orbera gastric balloon. I had gained weight as a side effect from medication and it seemed impossible to lose those extra pounds. After two years of trying it on my own, I decided I needed more support. I found Orbera here on Real Self and went to Dr. Naim in Los Angeles. It seemed like a great fit for me - someone whose BMI is between 30 and 40 and who isn't quite ready for something as permanent as a sleeve or bypass. Orbera helps you feel full faster and stay full longer, so you have the support you need to stick to a healthy eating plan. I exercised everyday for at least 30 minutes, ate low carb, and the scale started to move! I had very few side effects. I was maybe nauseous for a day or two after insertion and that was it. I'd say the only downside I experienced was hair loss, which is a common side effect of losing large amounts of weight. It should grow back after some time, so I'm not too worried. Updated on 23 Apr 2018: I've managed to continue to maintain my weight loss and I couldn't be happier. The photo on the right is me one year ago on my 30th birthday, and the photo on the left is me at my 31st birthday.
Dr. Naim is a very caring doctor He is very professional in his line of work. I felt very confident in him doing my surgery and all his staff especially Caroline Taylor they make a great team in the surgery room.
The current guidelines indicate the surgery for patients with BMI of 35 and above. BMI of 30-35 can make you qualified if you have a major medical condition due to obesity, like Diabetes, Hypertension and Sleep Apnea. Your doctor can look for the above. You may be able, and definitely benefit from Gastric Sleeve, with a BMI of 34 but need to find a and experienced surgeon.
I'm not sure how the 3 surgeons qualified you? But you definitely don't qualify and could lose too much weight! The recommendation is "BMI between 30 to 35 with something like hypertension and or Diabetes" or "BMI above 35" to qualify for an invasive procedure like Sleeve Gastrectomy.
Absolutely not. This is actually an easy procedure and scar tissue is not going to cause any problems, since it's all the way up close to diaphragm.Your surgeon maybe taking about absorbable "mesh like" materials that is shown to reduce scar tissue. Although there is no need, I don't believe that can cause any issues
Unfortunately weight gain is a chronic medical problem.Unless you take some action, you may have a harder time in the future to get to your ideal weight.Although Endoscopic Sleeve (ESG) is an option, most people get a better, long term result by Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastronomy.
Most likely you will gain back what you lost after removing the Lap-Band.That's is the case with all medical/ surgical products in general unless you maintain a rigorous diet and exercise program.Even though your band is never filled, it still creates some level of restriction. This is even more significant in older (smaller) bands. In addition most surgeons add some fluid during the initial surgery to create more restriction. If you are happy with the band, then leave it. If you like to remove it, you can get the sleeve at the same time or expected to need some other intervention in the future.
