Thank you for your question! While CoolSculpting was just recently FDA cleared to help improve laxity in the submental area only, it does not tighten any additional areas of the body. It’s best to schedule a consult with a Board Certified surgeon in your area to evaluate your areas of concern and help you choose the procedure(s) that’ll help you achieve the results you’re looking for. Good luck!
Over the five years that I’ve been removing fat with CoolSculpting, I’ve noticed that most patients do experience some skin tightening. This observation was verified by the FDA, which recently approved CoolSculpting as a therapy to tighten the skin under the neck. If you have very loose or inelastic skin, the tightening may not be sufficient for you. But if you have a small amount of submental fat and your skin quality is good, the CoolMini applicator can be used to both remove the fat and tighten the skin. This tightening has been observed in other areas such as the abdomen, as long as the pre-treatment skin is not too loose. Please find a board-certified dermatologist to evaluate you for CoolSculpting and be sure to express your interest in finding out if you’re likely to experience skin tightening as well as fat removal.
Thank you for your interest. We do get asked this question frequently. Coolsculpting thebody and extremities reduces the fat layer. There is no evidence based data proving that Coolsculpting will tightenskin in these areas. However, FDAclearance has been granted for treatment of the submental (under the chin), there isevidence that Coolsculpting the fat under the chin can help to improve skinlaxity.
I prefer Coolsculpting for certian areas of the body over liposuction (even though I do both) because the slow fat loss with Coolsculpting allows time for the skin to retract. Sometimes, when theskin is not very elastic, you can get saggy looking skin after liposuction.Discuss with a plastic surgeon to see which he or she recommends.Good Luck!
We have been using CoolSculpting for some years in our center and have noticed skin-tightening effects on most of our patients. Recently, the FDA cleared CoolSculpting as a treatment to tighten skin underneath the chin. Please understand that the tightening effects are subtle; you won’t get anything that’s equivalent to a tummy tuck or a neck lift, but if you’re skin quality’s pretty good, a CoolSculpting treatment helps tighten it at the same time it removes excess fat. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who has been certified by Zeltiq to perform CoolSculpting.
No, Coolsculpting is good for removing stubborn areas of fat, but lacks skin tightening. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction, which can be performed at the same time as a tummy tuck, depending on skin laxity. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer
As other practitioners have pointed out, the FDA has recognized the ability of Coolsculpting to tighten skin when it is used for adipose deposits in the neck. But in general, with body contouring, coolsculpting is acknowledged as a means of reducing adipose deposits and not tightening skin. Some patients do experience skin tightening, but it is difficult to predict. It is easier to predict patients who will not experience skin tightening; smokers, older patients, and those with stretch marks and other signs of poor elasticity are unlikely to see skin changes.
CoolSculpting will reduce isolated areas of unwanted fat but it will not tighten skin. If the skin is not loose prior to a CoolSculpting procedure, it will usually be elastic enough to contour to the area without having loose skin. If there is loose skin present before a treatment, this issue will not improve.
The CoolSculpting process works to effectively reduce fat. The natural elasticity of skin means there should be no looseness following treatment because skin in the area targeted will shrink down once the fat is removed. The treatment will not affect pre-existing loose skin — only areas of stubborn fat like love handles and double chins. There is some anecdotal evidence that the cooling causes skin to tighten and has the effect of causing collagen to remodel. In December 2017 it was announced by Allergan that Coolsculpting is the first and only non-surgical fat reduction technology to be FDA-cleared for improved appearance of lax tissue in conjunction with submental fat, or double chin, treatments. Hope This helps to answer your question.
Hi Ssupersad ( I hope you're not),Just recently Coolsculpting got a FDA clearance to tighten skin for double chins. In my own experience having CS on hundreds of clients, I do see "skin retraction" on other areas as well but it really depends on the area, age, elasticity etc...that being said, I do see it quite often but we can't make a "claim" that it will happen for sure. All the best to you and Happy New Year!
You certainly can go ahead and get CoolSculpting on your thighs, as it will not adversely affect your hip bones. However, you mention that you will soon be having a hip replacement surgery. I would wait to have the CoolSculpting done until after you’ve fully recovered from your hip replacement. ...
Thank you for your question. Yes, you can still have Coolsculpting. However, the applicators cannot be placed in the area of a hernia. You will need to make your treating physician aware of a hernia so proper care is taken. Please make sure you are seeing an expert. Best of Luck
Thank you for your question. Although, it is rare some patients may experience darkening of the skin after Coolsculpting treatment and it should resolve on its own. Protecting the area from the sun is a must as it can cause pigment changes. I recommend following up with your physician with your...
