I am 8 weeks lipo post op. I had lipo done all around. Abdomen, flanks, and lower back. I have lumps to the L side area and my L side flank looks bigger than my R. My doctor stated this is all normal and should subside. Can I do anything to help? Should I start wearing a compression garment again? Can this become scar tissue? Help!!!
Answer: Asymmetry after lips surgery Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear that you are having issues. You are still very early in the process so you can expect a reduction in swelling up to 6 months. You can certainly wear your garment, it is unlikely to cause any problems. Best to be patient and check with your surgeon periodically, In the worst case, you may require a revision surgery to reduce the left side, but it is still way too early to discuss surgery. You are likely to continue to notice improvement. Good luck.

Answer: Stay in contact with your MD . . . but otherwise, this sounds fairly normal, and two halves of any (bilateral) procedure rarely settle down at exactly the same rate. Firmness with bruising could be (resolving) mini-hematomas, but usually this is swelling, and either way, mostly time will help, although massage may as well (as long as cleared with your surgeon). Watching your activity level (blood pressure) and continuing compression (especially when active) also should help . . . generally you need to give things at lesat 3 months - but closer to 6 - to identify any true residual issues.

Answer: Lumps and Bumps after liposuction Thank you for your question. It is normal - completely normal - to have some unevenness and swelling, and lumps for months - typically at least 6 - after liposuction. If you feel more comfortable wearing your compression garment, and it doesn't bother you, go for it. I typically have my patients wear it for at least 3 months. You may also start to massage the lumps gently - it can help to hasten the softening of the tissue and absorption of any lingering fat. Best of luck!

Answer: 8 weeks post lipo = lumps, and uneven L flank Some lumps are common at this time and typically resolve by 6 months. Ask your surgeon if massage is appropriate in your case.
