I am curious to know hat the average amount of fat is used for a full face fat transfer and where I the best place to harvest the fat from? Also how do you determine when a face has been overfilled

I appreciate your concerns, however photos would be needed to provide a more detailed answer. The amount of fat transferred to the face is quite individual, depending on the patient’s needs and desires. Common areas of fat transfer include the lips, mid face and cheek region, jawline and temples. The amount of fat can vary from 5 mL to 35 mL or even more depending on patient need and number of locations. Transfer of too much fat to any particular area can look unnatural and for that reason it is important to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon for this procedure. How much fat you would require depends on your problem and desires. Total facial fat grafting usually takes 20-40 ml., though may take less or more. We harvest the fat from wherever you have an excess you do not need. The trick for us is to understand what is normal, get to know what you see as your ideal, and blend them into a pleasing look that accomplishes your desires and makes you look like yourself, only much younger or more stunning. The way fat grafting differs from fillers is that we transfer live cells that have to survive. Unfortunately, not all the cells survive, no matter how good the surgeon. This means we need to slightly overfill the areas to allow for losing some of the injected fat.When done by an expert, this almost always results in a natural look.
