I have seborrheic dermatitis under my eyes and use Protopic to control it. Although the area is a little red, it isn't usually swollen (unless I drink even just a little red wine). The initial seb derm outbreak, 5 years back, caused wrinkles and loose skin under my eyes. Would transconjunctival blepharoplasty be safe under these conditions or would it likely cause a huge flareup that re-creates the original problem? Thanks in advance.

Answer: Seborrheic dermatitis and eyelid surgery The triggers of seborrheic dermatitis are multiple, varied among people, and not fully understood, but may include: skin malassezia (pityrosporum) yeast overgrowth (from antibiotic use, excess skin oil buildup), stress, skin irritation, contact dermatitis, rosacea flare-up and triggers, and other unknowns. I would recommend you continue your usual seborrheic dermatitis topical or oral treatment prior to the week of your surgery, avoid the known triggers, and restart within a week after with permission from your surgeon.

Answer: Seb Derm and Blepharoplasty It is possible your Seborrheic dermatitis could be treated as well as the loose skin and wrinkles using C)2 resurfacing laser. IF indicated, transconjunctival Blepharoplasty would also be performed
