How do I get this cartilage bump from rhinoplasty corrected? (Photo)

Question

A hard bump on the side of my nose has been present ever since I had rhinoplasty over a year ago. Are there permanent ways to fix this? It makes my nose look worse and lopsided

Thank you for posting your question and photo. Since you’re interested in a permanent solution for removing the bump on the side of your nose, a revision rhinoplasty procedure may be in order. During this surgery, the protruding cartilage can be filed down to provide a smoother and more symmetrical nasal shape. 
I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon. They will be able to better assess your cosmetic goals while taking your previous surgical history into account.

Based on the photo above, if the bump that is present is truly cartilage, then nice improvement is possible with revision rhinoplasty. It could be shaved down or reshaped. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty expert for consultation.

Thank you for your question. Because your skin is thin, even small irregularities have a risk of showing after rhinoplasty. What you're seeing is most likely cartilage. Permanent solution would entail revision surgery, although small amounts of filler can be helpful for disguising bumps as well. I hope this helps, and all the best to you.

It depends... In general, a crooked nasal appearance with visible cartilage may require revisioin rhinoplasty surgery. Depending on your examination, microdroplet Silikon-1000 may be considered for achieving a straighter appearance, and for minimizing the appearance of the cartilage bump. Through revisionary rhinoplasty surgery, your issues can absolutely be improved. You are now one year postoperative and therefore an excellent candidate to have the curvature of your nose, and the residual bump, repaired. The curvature seems to be in the septal segment of your nose, hooking off towards your right eye The bump is in the vicinity of the upper lateral cartilage on the left side. I have seen this issue present every now and then from other offices. The skill set required for revision rhinoplasty is much more complex than primary rhinoplasty, so I urge you to do your research to find a surgeon with decades of experience in revision rhinoplasty.

Hi there! Yes, there are definitely ways to correct this problem. If it has been present since surgery, it could be cartilage which is too prominent. Sometimes, scar tissue develops. Options initially would include steroid to the area with massaging to see if it softens. If not, a revision procedure to remove excess bulk and smooth this area would work. Hope this helps!

It's probably best to go back to your original surgeon since they know what maneuver s they performed during your rhinoplasty procedure. A closed revision rhinoplasty can accomplish shaving that bump down and making any other adjustments with all the incisions placed on the inside of the nose. A full set of facial photographs from all angles are required in addition to a copy of the operative report to find out what was accomplished in the first procedure.
