It is not uncommon to be a bit tender in the procerus area post injection, that usually will subside after 2-3 days.  Because it was your first experience, that is not unexpected.

Swelling and discomfort, as well as bruising, are all possible after a Botox treatment.  Normally these effects are very short lasting and resolve completely.  If you do not feel you are improving over the next few days, you should contact the physician who treated you.  

Hello FourWindsFarm,It is very normal to have these feelings after Botox.  When Botox is injected it takes up space.  There is also mild trauma created by it.  Both of these can lead to swelling and the slight discomfort.  This sensation should fade over the next few days.  I hope this helps and good luck. 

The most common SIDE-EFFECTS of botox injections include: Swelling, Redness, and Bruising at the site of injection. Your bruising and pain sensation is normal and should resolve over a few days. Cold compresses may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling only if needed. This may be applied for 3 minutes, 3 times per day, for up to 3 days. This is best done with a bag of peas in a zip lock bag. Only apply light pressure to the area. Only take Tylenol if you get a headache or migraine. If it is persistent or you are worried, set up a follow up appointment with your dermatologist.

A little bit of swelling is 'par for the course' especially a few hours after the procedure. You can try some ice packs tonight to reduce the swelling. If it is persistent or you are worried, set up a follow up appointment with your plastic surgeon.I hope this helps!

It is possible that the discomfort is just due to the minimal amount of trauma from the injection. It is also possible that you could bruise but there bruises tend to be very mild and can be camouflaged with makeup immediately. Lastly, some patients also experience headache for a few hours after Botox. Tylenol and Ibuprofen tend to be helpful. This should resolve by the end of the day. Because Botox is administered through an injection, it is possible to have swelling, discomfort, or potentially bruising following treatment.  These mild side effects usually resolve within hours to a few days following treatment.  If, however, you are still experiencing discomfort or have a worsening of symptoms, you should follow up with your administering physician.

Unfortunately, this commonly occurs after Botox, when the needle punctures one of the many blood vessels in this area.  The thing you can do immediately is hold direct pressure with your finger in order to get the "bleeding" to stop, which will limit the swelling, and later bruising, that you can get sometimes.  The puffiness is all a result of what I'm describing above.  The headache, I believe, is from the swelling that is probably causing pressure on the nerves that run in that area.  As I mentioned, direct pressure, and intermittent ice works initially to decrease bruising.  The next day, warm compresses can help get rid of the bruising faster.  Be sure to go to someone with good technique who knows what they're doing and how to avoid the blood vessels in the face.  Take care.
