Thank you for your question. Botox will not improve results of a fat transfer. Have a wonderful day.
Receiving treatment with Botox will not improve the viability of fat during fat grafting. Using fat which has been properly harvested during liposuction and which is properly prepared (separated and centrifuged at the correct centripetal force) will preserve the stem-cell rich fat cells and allow for maximum fat "take" and viability.
There is no effect of botox and fat grafting, PRP can help the grafting survive however. Please see an expert for treatment. Best, Dr. Emer.
Botox injections will have no effect on fat injection. Fat is used as a filler; Botox to relax muscles that cause wrinkles. So both can smooth wrinkles in different ways. Fillers are more predictable than fat injection, but fat has the potential to last longer and in general is injected in larger volumes to treat more areas more aggressively. Thanks for your question.
Dear Batavia6074:The molecule of Botox is not known to directly enhance survival of fat grafts. As you point out, in some areas where Botox relaxes wrinkling, there is a synergistic effect with Botox and filler lasting longer together than either one by themselves. This seems to be a mechanical relationship and not a physiologic one. It takes 6-12 weeks to observe how much volume survives from a fat transfer. If there is a large amount of mobility in the area, Botox may enhance survival by reducing a mechanical injury from the overuse of facial expression in that area but this is theoretical at this time without studies. There is a drawback to consider. That is if Botox is used in an area like the cheek, the trade-off will be inability to lift the upper lip, eyelid droop and possibly drooling or food retention in the cheeks from lack of cheek muscle use. This is a very interesting question. Discuss this with your Fat Grafting Specialist!I wish you well.
Botox will not affect the longevity of fat injections either to increase or decrease the effect. Fat injections will add volume and Botox will decrease the apperance of wrinkles by weakening muscles that cause them
Botox should have no effect whatever on fat grafting. However, correction from fat grafting lasts for a very short time. You should consider having any one of the many fillers available today instead of fat grafting. They last much longer and you can have excellent results providing your injector is experienced. jlr
this is a good question. will reducing the mobility of the face alter the take of fat and can you do that with botox or disport? I don't think the answer is known. Fat takes very well in the brow and lower lid with a lot of motion and not so well in the cheek also with a lot of even bigger motion. To paralyze the face and look like you had a stroke might be an nice experiment but I wouldn't recommend it. Fatr is not as reliable as fillers but can be a powerful way to get facial shaping. Fillers are more reliable but you can't get the volume result without a lot of expense.
Botox is fabulous for the wrinkles that you described. I always recommend that my patients do not exercise for 24 hours after the procedure and remain upright for at least 4 hours after the procedure. Any negative side effects will dissipate in a few weeks to 3 months. Please keep us posted.
Botox is a fabulous injection but should not be done on the same day as the micro needling. I suggest you do the Botox the next day after the procedure to avoid any side effects. For the best results please consult a board certified dermatologist with experience with Botox.
Dear flightrisk, Thank you for your excellent clinical post. It is quite common for cosmetic patients to be on antidepressants and anxiolytics. Unfortunately, aesthetic enhancement will attract detail-oriented people that get frustrated by the ravages of aging or hereditary facial...
