5 days post op, is this a normal experience for buccal fat removal? How would I know if I have any nerve damage?

I had my buccal fat pad removed on 12/Apr/19 along with Kybella resulting, I have excessive swelling and am not able to open my mouth. I was instructed by my surgeon to have 5 sessions of ultrasound therapy to aid with the discomfort along with antibiotics and pain killers. I am using all of the surgeons directions, however, it hurts to chew, use mouthwash, brush my teeth, drink water (the most basic mouth related activities). I feel as if I am being stabbed repeatedly on the inside of my mouth.

There is some pain that occurs 1-2 days after buccal lipectomy. A week of severe pain would warrant the need to be seen by your doctor. If you have bruising on the inside of you cheek you likely had a hematoma or a collection of blood build up. This can get infected. Of course some people are more sensitive to pain than others but overall the recovery should be at most 1-2 days!
