I am not sure that massages are absolutely necessary but are recommended after fat transfer and liposuction. But this treatment may be helpful in evening out the transferred fat, reducing the possibility of lumpiness, and improving the "take" of the fat.
SO liposuction always leaves an uneven result in the early days. Massage helps squeeze out the fluid that has replaced the fat globules and so can make the results smoother in the short term and speed recovery and the final results in the medium to long term. Don't excessively massage the areas that have had fat put in though as this may cause the fat to dissolve away if you are too vigorous too soon after fat transfer to those areas. Dear SydneyLoo,Swelling 50 hours after fat transfer is very normal. Swelling can last up to 8 weeks so I would be patient at this time and try not to worry. Icing and taking Ibuprofen will help reduce the swelling. If you have any more concerns, I would bring this up with your surgeon. Best reg...
