Would fat transfer work for brow furrow? (photo)

Question

I have a constant brown furrow.I don't know if it shows up in this photo. But, I always look kind of angry. I have had successful transfer of fat elsewhere, my cheek ended up with a little bit of an indent that looks strange. But I would consider if I transfer again if it would be a more permanent solution to the furrow. Botox does very little for me. My face can't move but the furrow is still there. I'm 46

Who doesn't enjoy guac and chips! The area of your forehead known as the glabella seems to have minimal muscle activity in the photo. You would know best by trying to bring the eyebrows together. If the area doesn't move (from recent neuromodulator) this irregularity simply represents a "depression" or outline of the underlying muscles as opposed to "wrinkles". The depressions are treated with fillers or fat and the wrinkles are treated with neuromodulators ("Botox") or both if both issues are present. Try fillers first since its less invasive and then move on to a more permanent solution such as a fat transfer if you were happy with the results of “filling” the area. Good luck.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  I would advocate continuing treatment with a neuromodulator - botox, xeomin, or dysport.  The furrows are created by muscle activation and do not appear to have creased.  Fat transfer would be an option if you had a set-in wrinkle but not for your current appearance.  Hope this helps.

Botox with fillers tends to be best for this problem.Any filler will need Botox to keep the filler or fat from being compressed over time by the frown muscle movement.

Have you tried using fillers? Fat grafting may help with this area but the results may be somewhat unpredictable due to uncertainty with the percentage of fat graft survival. I frequently treat this area with Botox in conjunction with a filler. There are new fillers that can last up to 18 months and can be used to treat this area. The results are very predictable and even when the Botox wears off, you will still have improvement of the wrinkle due to the longer lasting effect of the filler.
