20 months after my Tummy Tuck and I still have a pronounced mons pubis. Why has this happened and would lipo flatten this area?

From your photos, it appears your belly contour is good but the mons projects outward slightly.  As long as there is no hang to the skin of the mons, the prominence of your mons should be easily corrected by liposuction.  If there is some loose skin of the mons, a monsplasty could be done and place the incision in the old tummy tuck line.  Revisit your plastic surgeon about these concerns.

Thanks for the photos. Based on the pictures I think your mons pubis is fine. Physical exam will be determining factor. Liposuction would be the best treatment if fat is the issue. Mons plasti would be the best treatment if droop of width is an issue. 

Your yummy overall looks nice. Your mons is slightly prominent due to being "uncovered" by the surgery.  If you do a pinch test of the area and can feel more than 1-2 cms of thickness then this can probably be lipoed down. Show to your surgeon for options. Good luck.

Thank you for your question. The recovery after a tummy tuck can take months but at 20 months you are starting to see your final result. Swelling can continue to disappear for one to years however and a supportive garment is something I ask my patients to use for quite a while, this may help.

Many patients who seek tummy tucks have not seen the extent of their mons pubis in many years, because the over hang hides the mons.  Once the extra skin/fat is removed and the mons is elevated, it suddenly becomes "prominent," as it can now be easily seen and evaluated. For most patients, knowing that the mons is normal is all they want to know. if the mons is a concern then liposuction can improve matters significantly.  Go back to your plastic surgeon and explain the concerns. The tummy tuck did not cause the mons to be prominent. Best of luck.

Your small mons projection looks like it could be very effectively treated by small cannula liposuction. You do not appear to have loose skin that would require skin excision (mons lift) with the lipsouction.

Its quite difficult to assess from your photographs alone what the problem may be.  Gentle liposuction to the mons may help to flatten this area and produce a more aesthetic contour.  If there is excess skin after liposuction, it may be possible to perform a monsplasty using your existing scar line.  Its best to return to your plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns or arrange a consultation with another surgeon.

For many patients undergoing tummy tuck surgery the pubic area may be an area of concern. This area may be large ( prominent) , ptotic (low), or deflated.  Therefore, I think it is important to address the pubic area when performing the tummy tuck surgery.
When planning the tummy tuck incision it is possible to keep the incision  low enough that it serves to “raise” the pubic area to some degree.  I like to plan this incision when patients are wearing the “cut” of swimming suit that they plan to wear after the surgery.
During the  tummy talk procedure the pubic area may then be “lifted” and/or defatted ( either directly or with liposuction) as  the specific patient's needs indicate.  Care is taken to avoid over thinning  the area since some coverage of the pubic area is important (for example for padding during intercourse). In your case, direct physical examination and a careful communication of your concerns/goals will be necessary to provide you with precise enough recommendations to be helpful. Options, of course will include liposuction and/or additional skin excision. Best wishes.
