Dear Thibgirl, having a blood transfusion in the Dominican Republic is as safe as in the USA. Dominican standard for blood safety in transfusion are very high. Dominicans plastic surgeons have excellent trainings, many have boards certifications from many organizations and is well known that we have excellent results at an affordable price. Having a mommy make over doesn't mean you need to have a blood transfusión but in case u need one don't be scare.
Why would you travel to a foreign country to save some money? How are you going to be followed up appropriately? What if you have complications following the procedure. I saw a patient from the DR who landed in my city because she was sick on the plane. She had a good infection and told the nurse at the clinic about her symptoms when she was about to leave. She stated the nurse escorted her to the plane and gave her a prescription for an antibiotic. Research your surgeon and facility's credentials and compare them to Canadian or American standards make sure they are safe.
I have not had to transfuse a patient after mommy makeover, and if you have concerns you should ask your surgeon. Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of mommy makeovers each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA
The Dominican Republic shares the island with Haiti which has the highest HIV incidence in the western hemisphere and DR although not as high is still higher than most countries. How they process their blood supply maybe adequate but there is no real way to know. As other surgeons have mentioned I have never transfused anyone for this operation and I wouldn't even anticipate its need. The fact that you are inquiring about the safety of getting a transfusion concerns me. You should really reconsider the factors that are making you decide to go there for surgery. The answer to your question is unknown. If you are concerned then why fly there to have discount surgery? Your health is too important to risk and if complications occur who will take care of you? Will you fly back to Dominican Republic.
Traveling to a foreign country for discount surgery is just a bad idea! There are so many things that go wrong that may end up with a bad surgical result, more money spent and even people dying from botched procedures. I would recommend spending a few more dollars and having your procedure performed by a local board certified plastic surgeon who will be able to take care of your post operative care. What are you going to do if there is a major problem after your procedure and you are already back home? You will find a hard time finding ANY plastic surgeon to care for you, and if you do they will charge you a fortune, because you were not their patient to start with. I would seriously reconsider this decision.
Thank you for your important question. Many studies have been done showing several problems traveling outside of the United States for complex plastic surgery procedures.A mommy makeover is a multiple plastic surgery procedure which requires skill and good medical and surgical care.. Recovery can be complex. There is simply not the same standard of medical care in many foreign countries that you have in the United States. In addition you need to be concerned as to what you will do if you have complications or other problems and your surgeon is in the Dominican Republic and you are living in the United States.Consult a board-certified plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and his license to practice plastic surgery in the United States. This is the best that he can do for your safety and ultimately achieving the best result possible. Shopping Price for a complex plastic surgery procedure is a grave mistake in my opinion an experienced.
Thank you for your question and posting appropriate pictures. You seem to be a good candidate for lateral tension abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and trans abdominal breast augmentation. These procedures performed at the same time will contour your midsection and rejuvenate your breasts without any...
You will find that each surgeon has their own policy regarding fees. We give a written quote at the end of the consultation that shows a breakdown of the fees. If surgery is scheduled, the quote will remain the same. I recommend that my patients take 10 to 14 days off work unless it is a...
