What was does tucking the columella up change/affect the shape of a nose?

In a few weeks I'm going in for a minor procedure where my columella will be tucked up as well as a piece of bone left from a previous rhino shaved off my bridge. I was just wondering if tucking up the columella usually makes much of a difference in the front/side view of the nose?

Tucking up the columella will make it hang less and the nose will look less bottom heavy. It also has a slight impact on the amount of nostril show.

When there is a hanging columella present, a columellar-plasty is performed. This involved shaving down excess cartilage and skin  inside the columella to help the nose look less "bottom heavy" . For many examples  and more information, please see the video and  the link below

Thank you for your question.  Even a millimeter change in the columella can make a significant change in the overall appearance of your nose on the profile view.  The relationship of the nostril rim or alar rim to the columella is critical to the nasal aesthetic on both the frontal and profile views.  Without photos, I can not recommend if it is better to lower your alar rim, raise your columella or both.  Good luck!!

The volume ll should be parallel to the nostril reimbursement and visible a few mm below. This is dob by trimmom
