2 weeks postop of a septorhinoplasty, when would it be safe to go surfing again?

Hello, I usually recommend no heavy aerobic exercise until 8 weeks after your procedure. For most usual forms of exercise this is adequate, but since your sport seems to involve potential trauma to your nose I would think that the 6 months would be a safe number

Every surgeon has their own preferences for patients resuming their normal activities. For me, I want my patients up and walking around the next day. I don't want any heavy lifting for at least a week to help prevent bleeding. For patients with fresh broken noses that I fix (so not a rhinoplasty), I let them return to the field when the cast comes off, but only if they wear a protective mask- like what Richard Hamilton the basketball player wore. In your situation, you had a much more definitive surgery, so you REALLY don't want to mess it up. I'd ask your surgeon for their official recommendations since they know you and your tissue. I think that at least 6 weeks would be reasonable, but they may want you to wait longer since the forces you're dealing with can be so intense.Be careful! Good luck!

For me, I recommend that you wait a minimum of 8 weeks before going surfing again. However, as every surgeon has their own preferences; I would recommend that you still consult with your surgeon first so you do not damage the work that has been done. Enjoy the waves!
