After surgery expect a significant amount of swelling and bruising. The amount of swelling and bruising will often increase in the first 2-3 days following surgery and then start to subside. It may be difficult to breathe through the nose initially however will gradually improve as the swelling and bruising go down. The nasal passage will feel congested for at least 2 weeks following surgery. After surgery you may use a wet cottonbud to gently remove any residual dried blood at the entry of the nostrils. However you must wait 2 weeks before you are able to blow your nose or use any saline nasal sprays.
Hi,After surgery on the nose there will be internal and external swelling. The external swelling is what you will see, and the internal swelling will likely lead to obstructed breathing for up to a few weeks. It is common that airway breathing will be limited for at least 2 weeks and will improve.Ultimately a rhinoplasty should achieve the aesthetic result desired and possibly improve breathing, but certainly not make it worseJeremy Hunt
Thank you for your question.I would not expect any of my patients to speak to me in medical parlance. The best thing you can do is take the same pictures you have on this site and show them to your surgeon, pointing out the parts of your nose that you are not happy with.Hope that helps.
5 weeks is very early to judge. If the nose doesn't improve some tip work may be necessary but its too early to make that call.
