Can asymmetrical nostrils be fixed with a septorhinoplasty? (Photos)

Question

I’m a 29 year old female, approximately 5’4 and 139 lbs. I’ve noticed my nostrils are assymetrical and it’s bothered me for years. Is this something that could be fixed with a Septorhinoplasty? Or is this a jaw alignment issue? What would you recommend? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It’s worse from other angles. I avoid taking pictures from certain angles as it really bothers me.

Thank you for your query. Some asymmetry of the face and nostrils is almost universal. If the asymmetry of your nostrils really bothers, you you can have a more limited procedure to correct the nostrils, a full septo-rhinoplasty may not be necessary. It is not visible on these photos how much of asymmetry is present to give you meaningful advice. Nostril symmetry can be improved with different procedures, including placement of rim cartilage grafts from septum, removal of redundant skin, etc. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, expert in rhinoplasty, is recommended. In fact, this is not a hole asymmetry, one side of your face stands higher than the other side. Therefore, the Wing on the side of the face standing above stands higher than the other Wing. While correcting this, we cut the muscles that pull the nose wing upwards from the point where they attach to the wing. but we still cannot correct the asymmetry on the nose wing, since it is not possible to correct the asymmetry on the face. The main reason why your nose looks different from different angles you say is the small asymmetry on your face.

From your photos, I note that the tip of your nasal dome is slightly off-center, suggesting underlying cartilage deformity. This most likely contributes to your nostril asymmetry. I also note that the oral commissures appear to be at disparate heights. 2 dimensional photographs are not adequate to determine what is real and what may be artifact.
Visit a board certified plastic surgeon for in-person evaluation and discussion.
