Hello I'm 30 yrs old. I have never smoked. I noticed my top lip has been getting smaller. And the line on one side is disappearing. And two lines have appeared over my lip on the same side. I am very concerned. Is there any treatments available to correct this? I am looking for a doctor in CA.
Answer: Lip Augmentation Hi @CubiG. You would be a great candidate for a lip augmentation. Restylane Kysse is a great product for a natural and pouty look. The technique of the provider and the product used are both very important factors for a natural outcome. I recommend seeking treatments from expert injectors who have the skill and experience to precisely inject fillers into treatment areas and avoid risks and complications. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

Answer: Lip shaping and filling with fillers Hi CubiG. Hyaluronic acid fillers like JUVÉDERM and Restylane are great choices for providing lip volume, shaping and filling in small lines. Lengthening of the upper lip is common with age and puckering (from variety of reasons-smoking, playing a wind instrument, using straws, etc) commonly leads to fine lines-you can help prevent them with small doses of Botox, Dysport or Xeomin. Keeping the skin in good condition will help resist wrinkling-see your plastic surgeon for options involving chemical peels and lasers. Good luck!

Answer: HA Fillers Keep Lips From “Disappearing” Your lips are still quite full, but you are right to start thinking about correcting for volume loss before it becomes too severe. Restylane is one of the hyaluronic-acid based fillers that I use to create more plumpness and shape in the lips and also to fill in creases and wrinkles on the lips and perioral area. I would definitely suggest some filler to bring your top lip in better balance with the bottom. Please find a board-certified dermatologist who understands how to sculpt the lip's delicate structures with HA fillers.

Answer: Hyaluronic Acid Fillers for Lips I am happy to hear you are a non-smoker, as smoking would certainly not do any favors for lip lines, skin, or your general health! As we age, our collagen breaks down both naturally and due to environmental damage, causing loss of elasticity and plumpness. Your lips have great shape, however if you are concerned with restoring volume and minimizing lip lines, this is a fairly simple fix. Hyaluronic acid based fillers such as Restylane Silk or Juvederm are best suited for the delicate area both in and around the lips, and generally last about 6-9 months. In my office I use a microcannula to inject this area, allowing for less injection sites and therefore less chance for bruising and/or swelling. I also utilize a tool called the AccuVein light, which highlights patient’s superficial veins, allowing me to avoid them during injection. The combination of these techniques, as well as proper filler choice and placement has revolutionized the comfort and downtime involved in my injectable treatments. Be sure to consult with a board certified Dermatologist who possesses ample experience in lip injections. Lip fillers in particular require a sharp aesthetic eye for ratio and symmetry; pay close attention to a physician’s own before and after photos. Best of luck!
