I am planning to have a tummy tuck, I am skinny but my tummy is big like if I had several months pregnant, due to skin from pregnancy 23 years ago, and the fact that when I gain weight that is the first part the fat goes. If I get avelar tummy tuck with back liposuction and at transfer to the butt, will the abdominal muscles can be repaired? they are open due to the pregnancy, and also what would be the difference between avelar and traditional, because I just heard of that type of tummy tuck.
Answer: Avelar tummy tuck Dear realselfuser, Front and side view pictures would have been very helpful. From your description, you most likely need a full tummy tuck. That procedure will give you flat stomach (no more pregnant look) , tight and youthful looking skin, nice belly button, improved body posture and most likely you will lose weight due to the abdominal muscles tightening that will reduce the amount of food that you can eat and your sense of hunger. In regard to Avelar tummy tuck, it is a procedure that combines tummy tuck with liposuction. In my practice I do not recommend it due to concerns to your safety. In a recent article in the plastic surgery journal, which was based on data from cosmetic surgery only insurance company, it was revealed that combining tummy tuck with liposuction increase the severe complication rate(including death) X 10 , in comparison to tummy tuck alone ! In the state of Florida it is illegal to perform tummy tuck with liposuction of over 1000 cc (small amount) after state investigation discovered a significant increase in severe complication , including many deaths, due to the combination of tummy tuck and liposuction. Cosmetic surgery is purely elective (you do not need it but rather want it ) and as such complication rate should be reduced to a minimum. Your safety is number one and an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure ! Finally, fat transfer to the butt is a total waste of your money and time, because the fat disappear completely or almost completely after few months or even sooner. I have seen it on many patients who came to my surgery center for butt implants after their big disappointment from the fat injection surgery that was done by other surgeons (I do not perform that surgery). Think about it this way. If fat injection was consistent and reliable, most women would have preferred it for breasts augmentation over breast implant. The reality is that breasts augmentation with implants is the number one cosmetic surgery in the US .... Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with the above mentioned features and low scar. Best of luck, Dr Widder

Answer: Avelar Tummy Tuck The Avelar TT does not take care of the muscle layer. That is performed with a traditional TT. The traditional TT does everything that Avelar does but also allows the surgeon to repair the muscles. You need to have a comprehensive consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who has extensive experience with body contouring. This young lady had the same problem as you and the muscled were repaired with a traditional TT..
