No separation between face and neck even when I had underweight BMI. Have had significant weight loss. (Photos)

Liposuctioning the neck and jawline is probably all you need and is so easy and quick with amazing results. Later decide if you need more aggressive treatment but i suspect not.

Thank you for your question. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon to determine your candidacy for a neck lift. You may be a candidate for the laser-assisted weekend necklift which can create a more contoured neck and jawline with a short recovery period lasting as short as one weekend.

Based on these photos and your age it looks like a neck lift will be procedure of choice. However, without in person evaluation it is impossible to say whether additional skin excision in front and/or behind the ear would be necessary. It doesn't seem that chin augmentation would further improve result. Good luck.

Hi Abigail,Congratulations on your weight loss!  Continue with your lifestyle changes and you will likely meet your goal.I understand from your photos what you're referring to, in terms of "no separation between face and neck," but I would caution you from undergoing any cosmetic procedures until you're closer (within 20 lbs) of your goal weight.  Also, if you are considering jaw surgery, have that done first.Then revisit the idea of neck lifting (with liposuction/platysmaplasty) and/or chin implant with an in-person evaluation with an experienced facial plastic surgeon.Best wishes,Dr. Jay

has some advantages and the biggest is that your skin will shrink if you have liposuction so liposuction should help you achieve a much improved profile.  Fat removed could be grafted to your chin or other areas on your face if you feel it would be beneficial to you.  So invest in a consultation and if a necklift procedure is recommended, would move on to another surgeon as you do not start with a necklift from the photos you provided.

 It's important to be  at your ideal goal weight between 110 and 120 before undergoing any surgery in the neck. A necklift procedure can accomplish removal of fatty deposits above and below the platysma muscle which also includes liposuction and a platysma plasty procedure. Consider placement of small chin implant augment the  chin forward which would also help with better structural support for the soft tissues of the neck. Well first, I would wait to do anything surgically until you have finished losing the weight you want to lose. Your neck angle is obtuse and may be due the underlying anatomy. Sometimes releasing the platysma muscle( superficial muscle across the neck will soften this angle , but I would wait until you reach your goal weight. Best of luck.

The key is to focus on the underlying bone structure and not the soft tissue only. As your orthodontist noted you have a smaller lower jaw which is not only a profile/side view issue but typically means the lower jaw can be narrow as well. With a narrow jaw there is little separation of the face and neck and it is typically an error just to try to "pull the skin tighter", since you have no structure to pull against for a natural look.
