Will the lumps and bumps on my eyelids after double eyelids surgery go away?

Question

I got double eyelid surgery 2 weeks ago & 7 days ago I noticed a clear white knot popping out of my skin so I went back to my surgeon to get it clipped. A couple days later I could tell the buried sutures split because I saw and felt 2 hard dots on my eyelids (1 from the knot being clipped & 1 in the middle). I noticed my swelling has gone down a lot but the lumps & bumps are so noticible. Are these dangerous and will they go down with time? I really need a second opinion please. Thank you!

It sounds like you just had blepharoplasty 3 weeks ago and are having some reactions to the sutures--this is normal.  Give it a little more time.  If there is significant redness, pain, and drainage, consult with your surgeon as soon as possible.  good luck!

Thanks for your inquiry.
I believe it is premature to worry about your lumps and bumps along the crease line.
In my experience,this will go away once healing takes place, so give some more time to heal about 4-6 months and if it doesn't clear then you can consult with your surgeon.

Generally, the small bumps along an incision line after eyelid surgery are inflammation from the sutures that a surgeon uses to close up eyelid surgery incisions. Any time we surgeons break the skin, even with something as small as a needle or suture, the body likes to get a bit inflamed. These commonly take some time to go away, and the length of time varies from patient to patient. However, they do eventually resolve. I often have my patients gently massage their suture lines in the shower with some warm water to help encourage the bumps to go away.  As well, if the bumps are very bothersome for my patients, I may inject a mild steroid to reduce inflammation. Your best bet is to ask your surgeon what they commonly do for these small bumps and to follow their post-surgical care instructions. After all, they surely have your best interests in mind.
