The time it takes for fat cells to reach the temperature at which they undergo a natural cell death depends on the temperature. For CoolSculpting at the current temperature it takes 60 mins. A new applicator has just been released which uses a lower temperature and cuts the treatment time down to 35 minutes. Any other machine that claims to freeze fat in less time than this is probably not a genuine CoolSculpting machine. Using oil in a deep freezer is not an accurate representation of this process. I like your scientific approach!  The answer is "it depends".  The technology is based on research at Harvard and the machine holds multiple applicators to treat different body parts.  In order to get FDA clearance, the manufacturer had to prove safety and efficacy and from there they put out "treatment guidelines" to doctors.  Starting in July, some offices such as our Lipo Spa Centers will have the new 35 minute adapter while others will continue to use the old 60 minute adapters.  When you choose an office, choose one based on experience as Coolsculpting is somewhat "technique" dependent so not all providers are created equal.You mentioned a 30 minute treatment in your question... there is no FDA approved 30 minute treatment that we are aware of.  Best of luck, Doc Halliday
