Hi, With all these new products what is difference in thickness, softness and general overall outcome of these three ? Ive read Alloderm is softer more pliable then Strattice so have to be careful not overcompensate. What about Silk Mesh is that also thicker again?
Answer: The difference between Strattice, Alloderm, and Seri Alloderm is human cadaver dermis, Strattice is porcine (pig) dermis, and Seri is a purified silk mesh. Each has specific properties for specific purposes. Having used all three, I have some comments. The biologics, Alloderm and Strattice, tend to thin the capsular tissues, and I use these more for patients with capsular contracture in revisionary breast surgery. In those patient for breast reconstruction after mastectomy, especially if I'm using an expander, I tend to use Alloderm because it is thinner, encorporates into the tissues more readily, and stretches more. In some cases, you don't want as much stretch, so I will use the thicker Strattice. Seri is best used for revisionary breast surgery to reinforce a capsulorrhaphy (suturing the pocket), for a breast that falls to the side, bottomes out, or symmastia (uniboob). Seri thickens tissues, and I also use it for implant wrinkling. In summary, each of the materials has very specific properties that I can exploit to get the best result. I hope that helps.

Answer: Strattice vs AlloDerm vs SERI AlloDerm is an acellular dermis matrix product (ie a sheet of collagen harvest from a human cadaveric course). Strattice is also a dermal matrix product but from a porcine (pig) source. SERI is a silk surgical scaffold not from a human cadaveric or porcine source. It is a bioengineered silk based product. All of these are designed for soft tissue support.

Answer: Comparison of Strattice, SERI Silk Scaffolding, and Other Matrix Thank you for your question. All the internal matrix materials have their own indications, but the same general purpose of support and management of implant positioning. Strattice and Alloderm are porcine and human dermal material respectively, and SERI is made from silk. A patient's individual case dictates which of them might work best, but a surgeon's experience and preference is also a factor. There is also a significant difference in price in the silk and the dermal matrix. I hope this was helpful.
