I had botox applied in the wrong place by a very inexperienced practioner, and it was near my cheeks- the muscles have relaxed and they are now unable to hold up the fat pad. Therefore the fat pad descends from the tear trough to the upper cheek, which gives the appearance of a chipmunk cheeks. It has been quite some time since the injection but the fat pad has not repositioned back to normal yet. Can this damage be permanent 9 months on?

Answer: Drooping Cheek Thank you for your question. It is difficult to evaluate you without before and after photos. It would be quite unusual for Botox to cause this problem 9 months out from your injections since the effects typically dissipate by 3-4 months. I recommend evaluation by an experienced injector. If possible find a physician who can stimulate the zygomaticus to contract with an electrical stimulus. Not many offices have this capability however. I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

Answer: Botox resolution Hello CitySphinx, This drop in the muscle down into your cheeks should normally subside in 3-5 months post treatment. This can happen when the injection is injected too low in the crows feet/cheek area. It should resolve itself as the neuromodulator wears off.
