Is tickle lipo a gimmick?

Tickle lipo is one of the various power assisted liposuction machine(PAL) out there. It was first introduced in Belgium years ago, its otherwise called nutational infrasonic liposculpture (NIL). When patients are adequately anesthesized and the NIL is being used the tip can sometimes tickle the patient and actually make them laugh , hence the name Tickle Lipo. I’ve had people giggle while doing the procedure several times. It’s a very good machine and is as good if not better than the MicroAire PAL system

Gold standard is Tumescent liposuction.  Rest are marketing gimmick and would increase prices for no added advantage. 

In my opinion, Tickle Lipo is the best procedure for liposuction. Smart lipo is a fine procedure that can give great results but it's no longer the latest and greatest. Smart lipo is led by a marketing machine and people are likely to be familiar with the procedure because it's so well known. Tickle lipo is just another name for a type of Tumescent liposuction. Vibro Lipo, Power Assisted Lipo, Tickle liposuction, are very similar variations of mechanically assisted tumescent liposuction that use a small motor to rotate, vibrate and or oscillate the liposuction cannula. Tickle lipo has had all of the following names: Custom Acoustic Liposuction (CAL) or Nutational Infrasonic Liposuction (NIL) and was originally marketed in some countries as Vibroliposuction or Vibro Lipo™. All of these are just brand or marketing names for variations of Tumescent lipousuction which use dilute local anesthesic to allow the procedure to be safely while the patient is awake or lightly sedated. Hello,This is a device that is designed primarily for awake liposuction. Be sure your surgeon is accredited to perform liposuction in a hospital.  Effectiveness and quality of any liposuction is not influenced by the device, but by the experience and talent of the surgeon.Don't be confused, if it is liposuction of any kind, it is no more or less 'invasive' a procedure than other types of liposuction, and is in fact a real surgery. Go visit a few surgeons ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeons expert in body contouring. Best of luck!

The most important thing is that you go to an expert for treatment.  The type of liposuction doesn't matter so much as the person doing it, however HI DEFINITION procedures require a very specific type of training.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Tickle Lipo is a real procedure with a unique technology. In first started in Belgium about 20 years ago. There it is called Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture. aka NIL.
It distinguishes itself from other technologies by not using any excessive heat, like  VASER and Laser Liposuction, during the procedure.  And it does not use sharp cutting instruments which all the other techniques use, including Laser and VASER.
With Tickle, the instruments are cool running and blunt. The cannula is rotating and vibrating allowing it to move thru the tissues comfortably during the numbing process and when suctioning, that motions causes liquefaction of the fat and enhances a thorough and easy removal.
In short, not a gimmick, it is a superior form of office base lipo.

The best thing to do is look at the before/after photos of plastic surgeon you have chosen (they have to show you body photos from under the breast to above the knee in four views - front, quarter turn, profile and back; you can see my website); if you like the photos then you are in good hands; if you don't see the four views then be careful.  How the procedure is done should not be what is important but rather the plastic surgeon's abilities.  

There are many types of liposuction from many different companies around the world. All liposuction machines are built on the basic principle of breaking up and removing the fat directly from the body. Some technologies vary on how they break up the fat, whether they use the surgeon's movements (traditional), a machine's movements (Tickle and Power-assisted), or energy waves (ultrasound or laser). They all work if performed appropriately because ultimately the fat is removed. Not exercising for 3 weeks before should not harm your results. It is more important to continue a healthy diet and exercise routine after your recover form your surgery to optimize your results. Best of luck!

The primary determinant of your results will be the skills and experience of your surgeon.  That is why I recommend that you see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who comes recommended from friends and other medical personnel.While many devices have been introduced into the medical marketplace over the years, it has remained a constant that the surgeon is the most critical factor in your outcomes.As always, I suggest that you be at your best weight before any body contouring procedures, but unless you feel like you have gained more than 10 lbs or so, your recent inactivity shouldn't be an issue.Best of luck!
