Bruising on face post pulse dye laser treatment. Any suggestions? (photo)

Question

I had a pulse dye laser treatment for a red spot on my face (I have rosecea). I ended up with quite a bruise. Is this normal? Is it possible I might scar or have permanent discolouration? How long does it take to resolve and what can I do to speed up the process?

Pulsed dye laser can bruise, its one of the things that happens with this laser. Will take 1-2 weeks to resolve. If concerned speak to your physician.  Best, Dr. Emer.

After a PDL treatment, bruising is common. It is most pronounced in the first few days and usually clears within 3-10 days. Sun protection will help minimize the chance of pigmentary changes. Makeup can be used starting on day two. If crusting occurs at the treated area, do not pick at the skin. Be patient and contact your provider with any questions/concerns.
