I am considering a calf liposuction but I'm not sure if I'll see any results? I'm not sure if it's muscle or fat but I guess both. My mother and my grandmother also have bulky calves so it's probably genetic. I hate my calves mostly because I am rather slim in my legs and skinny/bony everywhere else so I have to wear long skirts, dresses and flared or straight leg trousers, otherwise my legs look very short which is quite frustrating. Would a calf liposuction help?
Answer: Any improvement you can get with liposuction of the calves/ankles is worth it. Calves and ankles do good but have to be done under local with the microcanulas to really sculpt the areas and the patients need to be able to stand up to fine tune it. cost is roughly 4500 on special. Any improvement is worth it since there are very limited options. Sincerely, David Hansen,MD

Answer: I would like to slim my genetically bulky calves. Will calf Liposuction help? There are very few patients in whom I feel the surgery is worth the result with calf and ankle liposuction. However, there are a few, but it is difficult to determine this without an exam.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Liposuction Thank you for sharing your photos! Although it is difficult to say without an in person examination, liposculpture as an outpatient procedure under I.V. sedation can reduce the bulge that some people have in their ankles and restore a more shapely leg. Unlike other areas of the body the ankles and calves require a certain delicacy which is why I use several innovative forms of liposuction, including SmartLipo, to contour and resculpture the area while providing the most beautiful results with minimal scarring. SmartLipo, used in combination with other forms of liposuction or alone, is a procedure that uses laser light to liquefy fat and tighten the surrounding skin. It’s thought to involve less downtime and side-effects than traditional liposuction and is particularly good for small areas of fat deposits like the ankles. New technology that's gentler and faster than ever before not only allows the removal of fat, but also resculpts the legs. When looking for a surgeon for something very specific, such as liposuction of the calves and ankles, it is important to find a doctor who routinely performs the procedure and who can show you before and after pictures of patients that they have operated on. These images will not only give you a sense of the surgeon’s skill, but will help you to better visualize the procedure for yourself. I suggest making an appointment with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon who can explain in detail to you what your options are.

Answer: Bulky calves From your photos, it does not appear that you have too much fat in your calves, so I doubt that liposuction will be that beneficial to you. Another option for reducing bulky calves is injection of Botox into the calf muscles. Although uncommonly done, the procedure is well-documented and reliable. I think this might be a better option for you.
