Just before Covid shut everything down, I was able to complete a series of 5 Emsculpt treatments to my abdomen and completely love the results! Back story, I have always had a belly pooch, and I've tried everything short of surgery to correct it. Coolsculpting was my first try which failed miserably, worsening my belly fat problem with an under reported side effect called, Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia - read up on this if you're thinking about Coolsculpting!! I would have NEVER opted for this treatment had I known about this possible side effect. After being told by my GP and OBGyn that my big, hard stomach fat was just part of "getting older" and "it happens to everyone". I felt I was on my own to find answers, something wasn’t right and I started searching for ways to improve it. My next try, VanquishMe was a great treatment that reversed the hardness of the condition, took an inch and a half off my waistline and tightened the skin. It was a great success and although it was expensive, I was thrilled that it fixed the unnatural condition caused by Collsculpting. My self confidence returned and I was feeling good again. A couple years later I wanted more, I wanted visible abs! I was impressed with the new technology of Emsculpt because it could shrink fat and build muscle. I searched for a provider and realized it was beyond my budget, then I found an incredible offer on Groupon! Of course I was skeptical, it seemed to good to be true, so I stopped into the office to find out more. Dr. Bela Glantsman at Cordial Medical Spa was happy to explain the process and even showed me the machine. Her office is in a medical building it’s not a big, fancy spa, but I don’t need sparkly chandeliers and scented candles, I just need quality care at a fair price. It was perfect, I bought a 6 treatment package and scheduled my first session for the very next day. I left feeling like I had a new friend in my corner and was very comfortable with my decision to go forward. I also added a couple Exilis Ultra treatments for some extra fat burning and skin tightening on my belly. The first session was REALLY intense!! It was a strange feeling but it wasn't uncomfortable and certainly not painful. I made it up to 80% intensity during the first session. The next day I was sore! Still feeling it when I went for my second visit 3 days later, I was able to go up to 100%, it’s much easier when you know what to expect and WOW did I feel that one! It was hard to sit up when the 30 min session was over and the next morning I had to roll off the bed, lol. I scheduled all my treatments 3 days apart as recommended, and remained at 100% intensity throughout. The 3rd treatment was a bit uncomfortable, only because of my period, it never occurred to me to ask about this, LADIES, avoid this week if you're doing your tummy! (Gentlemen, I’m sorry you had to read that!) The 4th and 5th treatments seemed easier as I was getting stronger each time. The results were better than expected, so for my 6th and final treatment, I chose a treatment to my butt. I've got a really strong booty and have always gotten compliments regarding my backside, still I was curious, could it get even better? The treatment on my bottom was lack luster compared to my first abdomen treatment so I didn’t feel the need to buy another package for this area. I am however considering another package for the upper arms, I have abs for the first time in my life, why not bring on the gun show! Bottom line, I love EmSculpt! It's been a year since my first treatment and while I still look great and feel strong, I’m kind of addicted to the crazy intense workout feeling so I’ve started maintenance treatments. It's inspired me to get back in the gym and start doing the real work again. As an added bonus, having a stronger core has also improved my posture and greatly reduced my chronic lower back pain. I'm 53 yrs old and have maintained a healthy lifestyle throughout my adult life but I can honestly say I’ve never been happier with my body! I highly recommend this treatment and Dr. Bela Glantsman at Cordial Medspa.
Good news, looks like the procedure worked well for you. Bad news, you are having regrets. Hair removal/reduction is intended to be permanent. Most aesthetic treatments are like surgeries, not reversible. Often we want to have some tissues damaged or destroyed like hair follicles or removed in attempt to regenerate new collagen growth like skin resurfacing procedures or liposuction. It is so important to understand all the implications of the procedures you are undergoing, ask questions about possible side effects, tell the provider details of your medical history to be safe and well prepared for any changes you may experience after the procedures. Don't believe the stem cells are used to regenerate the hair after laser hair removal.
Its is recommended not to exercise, undergo any heat causing activities, like going to the spa, hot tub, hairdresser, not to recline lower than 45 degrees for at least 4 hours after Botox injections. . Those activities can lessen or change the intended results. You actually suppose to move your facial muscles actively every 15 min for 2 hours after the treatment to make sure the toxin is taken up by muscles in your face faster. Yes its is not advised to exercise for 24 hours, and your job may be considered too active and you may want to schedule injection before your day off. Its also known that active people have shorter Botox action and may need more injections per year to maintain the effects. And its good to remember that full effect may take up to 7-10 days up to 14 days.
Thank you for your question. You made a great investment and tried this new treatment that is very promising for people who want to define their muscles. If you were a good candidate for this procedure to start with you should see results soon after or in up to 4 weeks post last procedure. However effect may vary from person to person. We recently obtained this great machine and personally and my staff are experiencing some subjective muscle toning after just 2 treatments. Some factors may delay the gratification, like smoking, frequent alcohol consumption, if you do not usually exercise and muscles are pretty weak to start with and obviously if diet is not optimal and lacking nutritional value. You can give it more time and even get an additional treatment session if possible. Proper photos may help to see objective results. And, please keep us posted how it feels in few weeks! Best luck
I agree, this is not a problem described as a possible side effects of laser treatment. But what is most important is to check a pregnancy test and if you have an intrauterine device and have not reported it to the treating provider, then you should have an appointment to check for any gynecologic issues. And even if you don't have the above problems, still see your doctor and may be have a pelvic ultrasound done as you will need to continue with your hair removal treatments and want to make sure you don't have any organic issues going on. Best luck!
That is a great question! If you had pictures before the treatment that should help. Also if you seen results after 1st treatment, that is a great sign that you are being treated with good settings. Sometimes intervals between treatments need to be extended to 10-12 weeks instead if 4-6 especially on the extremities. As you know only actively growing hair that are still connected to the hair bulb are getting heated and treated and those hair that are in transition or resting phase are not getting treated during laser session. And those resting stages can vary in different patients. So monitor new hair growth after laser treatment starting after 4-6 weeks to see if you can start next treatment or you should reschedule in few weeks. Also it takes time for treated hair to leave the skin (about 2 weeks after treatment) and it may seem like its grows more or laser did not work. Just clarify the settings and intervals with your provider, making sure they use settings for coarse hair as hair still feels stubby. Some hair types, genetics or hormonal status will require more treatments and maintenance treatments to achieve final desired results. Best Luck!
