Will I notice a difference with half a syringe of Juvederm? (Photo)

Half a syringe does very little but you can always add more.  I suggest starting slow and consider cannula to limit pain and swelling.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hello, Thank you for the question and picture. Most patients can handle a full syringe, however if you are concerned perhaps you can ask your doctor to start with half, and then you can evaluate and decide if you want the other half. Good luck! 

Hi and thanks for your question. I routinely will use half a syringe for lips to preserve a natural appearance and make sure that the lips do not look overdone. Your lips are not too thin, so I think that you will have a great result with half a syringe, especially if it is concentrated in the top lip. Your bottom lip is pretty full, so I do not see that it needs much augmentation. As everyone else points out, you can always come back for more. Hope that helps.

This really depends on your goals and what you are trying to achieve. You can always start out with half a syringe and then add more in a couple of weeks if needed. It becomes much harder to take away too much filler that was given if your'e not happy with the results. Your injector should guide you as to how much he/she thinks you will need to accomplish your goals. If you are nervous then it's always better to start slower and add more as you go along. Dear chanelghaly1,if you want to achieve a moderate lip augmentation, I would recommend you to go slowly. You might get half a syringe of Juvederm and see how would it look like once the swelling has subsided. It usually takes two weeks for swelling to subside. Half of a syringe is a conservative amount.  The wonderful thing about fillers is that you can go slowly, and add more as you choose. Remember that swelling and bruising are common after lip injections, so you won't be able to realize your final result for about two weeks.

A half a syringe is definitely conservative, but I always think it best to start small. It is easy to add more filler. It is really hard to take it away. Best of luck. 

Thank you for your photo. There is no harm in starting with half a syringe and advancing from there. You will be able to notice the immediate difference at the time of injection and decide if you want to complete a full syringe. If you feel like you are happy with the results at half a syringe, then you can stop at that point as well. It is more wasteful and painful to undergo a full syringe to simply use it, regret it, and then have to have another procedure to dissolve it with hyaluronidase. A little goes a long way in the face and you can always add more. Keep in mind that you can expect your lips to swell more than normal in the first 72 hours after the injection but the swelling and inflammation are temporary and will subside. Hope this helps!!Johnson C. Thank you for your excellent question and for sharing your photograph.  In general, when considering lip augmentation, a conservative approach is best for producing beautiful and natural results.  I recommend one syringe or less for most of my lip augmentation patients.  Please keep in mind that it will take 2 weeks to allow for normal postprocedure swelling and bruising to fully resolve and to see your final result.  More product can be added at that time, if necessary, to produce the desired result.  Please be sure to see an expert injector for an in-person consultation to fully discuss your concerns and your goals and expectations in order to determine the best treatment plan.  You may also wish to consider Volbella, which is newly FDA-approved for lip augmentation and perioral rejuvenation.  This product has been designed to produce subtle and natural results.  Hope this helps and best wishes!
