I had a mommy makeover with full tummy tuck, breast lift and implants on may 26th. The drain tubes were removed on may 30th. I have an appointment with the Ps to remove the staples. I am worried because skin is growing over the staples and I am still in pain. I would like to know the average amount of time the staples stay in.

Answer: How long do surgical staples usually stay in following a mommy makeover? The duration that surgical staples stay in following a mommy makeover can vary based on individual healing and the surgeon’s recommendations. Typically, surgical staples are removed within 7 to 14 days after the procedure, but this can vary depending on factors such as the type of surgery, the patient’s healing progress, and the surgeon’s preferences. Many surgeons, including myself, use dissolvable sutures that do not need to be removed, but actually dissolve into the body so there is nothing to remove. It is important to discuss the incision care at either your consultation appointment or pre-operative appointment with your surgeon. It’s crucial to follow your surgeon’s post-operative instructions for the most accurate guidance on staple removal.

Answer: Use of staples in cosmetic surgery In my opinion, skin staples can be utilized for most operations including cosmetic surgery. However, the staples need to be removed with in 2 or 3 days, or it is likely that they will create small scars where the staple penetrates the skin. This is commonly referred to as a railroad tracks scars. In my practice. I do not use skin staples for any cosmetic surgical procedure, however, every surgeon has techniques which he or she prefers. I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon.

Answer: Staples and tummy tuck Hi, I personally do not like to use staples but each plastic surgeon has their own approach to the closure. You are very early but the swelling post op makes the staples look like they are embedded in the wound. There is a staple removing tool to remove them and it usually works fine even if there is some tissue swelling going on over the staples. I would think that your plastic surgeon would want them out soon because if left in too long, then they can cause "tracking" which are dots where the staples entered. Call your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns but if your doctor does a lot of body contouring, then trust that your best result is in your doctors objective as it is for you.
