Ever since I was 12 I noticed both of my cheeks are formed differently. This causes my lips to look smaller on one side and larger on the other, as well as my nose. What can I do to fix this?
Answer: Improving facial symmetry with fillers or implants Both implants and fillers in the cheeks can create good results for patients. Both can build up the cheeks and create symmetry. You must balance the pros and cons of each procedure and do what you feel is the best decision for you. Fillers: Pros: No downtime Reversible Quick Cons: Temporary More expensive in long run Implants Pros: Permanent Great for patients with poor bone structure Less expensive overtime Negative: Risks associated with surgery Possible infection Downtime I hope this helps!

Answer: Improving facial symmetry with Fillers (Radiesse, Voluma, Bellafill), Sculptra, implants, fat Symmetry of the face can be improved with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra. Fat or implants are alternatives. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Facial asymmetry treatments Thank you for the question and the photo. Everyone has a certain degree of facial asymmetry. If you look at split-face composite photos (i.e., both left or both right halves of your face) it is very obvious. That said, when the asymmetry is significant enough to be aesthetically unpleasing even with casual assessment, there are treatment options. For most patients, soft tissue injectable fillers are the best solution. Different fillers are used for different areas of the face, depending on skin thickness, etc. This can also help with the lips. Best of luck moving forward!

Answer: Lip augmentation Dear missaelh18,based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a lip augmentation. I typically use Juvederm for my lip sculpting. There are two main focuses of lip injections, adding volume and actually sculpting the shape. Both involve injecting the filler in different areas of the lips and patterns. I would recommend finding a plastic surgeon to perform you lip injections. Most of my patients have results that last at least 6 months if done correctly.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Cheek asymmetry I do see the difference in shape between the two cheeks. The left lip is also shorter than the right but this is a congenital asymmetry. We all have asymmetry to varying degrees. The cheeks can be augmented to make them more symmetrical. The lip can't be shortened but sometimes highlighting the peaks makes them look more symmetric. Hope this helps. Best wishes
