Botox causes me sinus infections. Is there an alternative to Botox ?

Botox causes me a sinus infection ( tearing eyes , blocked stuffy nose ). last time ( the sixth time i administered Botox ) i suffered from dizziness and vertigo . Is there an alternative to Botox for cosmetic purposes that doesn't cause such symptoms ?

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your sinus infection side effects.  Botox is one treatment in a family of medications used to help treat wrinkle formation.  Other medications include Dysport and Xeomin.  Talk to your injector, most have at least two of these available to them for use.  Hope this helps.

It is not typical for Botox to cause sinus infections.  Perhaps a sinus infection was already incubating before you had Botox and it was easy to blame the Botox in hindsight (like getting the flu 3 days after getting your flu shot...it really was NOT the flu shot that "gave" you the flu).  With that being said, there are 2 alternatives, however, both are still botulinum toxins.  One is Xeomin, which is the most pure form of botulinum toxin (I call it the "organic" Botox) and the other is Dysport.  I have found Xeomin to be quite effective and even use it myself.

purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. For some people Botox can lead to reactions or adverse effects. In these cases alternative neuromodulators such as Dysport or Xeomin can be tried. Please consult

Thanks for your question and this is highly unusual to hear following Botox injections.  There are two other FDA cleared toxins – Dysport and Xeomin.  You would need to try each one to see if the same thing happens or not – there are subtle differences in the preservatives of each one so they all are a little different – the toxin is basically the same in each.  Talk to your provider and see what can be done to see what is going on.
