Why did my symmastia repair fail? Symmastia tenting returned (Photo)

Question

I had a repair symmastia/bottoming out. A capsulorrhaphy was done, we downsized, used the same under the muscle pocket and internal bra using seri I have worn my thongbra and taken all precautions. It's just shy of 2mo and the last few weeks my cleavage is becoming nonexistent the skin is raising again and right implant bottoming out/settling odd? (this isn't it dropping we used internal bra) How is this happening after use of seri? Is it possible to reattach my sternum skin so it's flat again?

Good afternoon!Most repairs fail due to technique. Synmastia repair is the single most difficult procedure in all of breast augmentation surgery, and if the proper suture technique is not used then it will fail. It is very important to make sure you choose an experience surgeon who can show you multiple pre and postop photos of repairs they have personally performed.Seri mesh is also often considered to be a magic bullet that miraculously repairs problems, but if not placed properly with the correct suture technique it just doesn't work.I have attached a link to my synmastia repair photo gallery- hope it helps!

I am sorry to hear about the concerns you have after revisionary breast surgery. Without  viewing pre-op pictures, it is hard to comment on the changes you are experiencing. Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to  assessment, recommendations, and relevant responses to your questions.Generally speaking, patients undergoing correction of symmastia should understand that although the repair will lead to correct positioning of the breast implants, some residual skin tenting often persists. In other words, it is very difficult ( in my opinion) to get the sternal skin to sit "flat again". For example, suturing of the sternal skin down to the sternum is likely to be fraught with complications (and is not something I would suggest).  I would also certainly not suggest external methods to secure external skin down to the sternum. Sorry that I cannot be of more precise help to you; again, your plastic surgeon will be your best resource in this regard. Best wishes.

repairs are considered failed if the tenting return to what it was prior to your revision.  But your surgeon is your best resource when evaluating this since your surgeon knows where you started from, how much you downsized, and  how much more narrow your new implants were as they all impact your results.  SERI can be helpful but if sutures were not anchored well, it can easily pull up and separate.  Best to ask your surgeon at this point.
